Washington: On Saturday, US President Donald Trump clearly said that if China supplies arms to Iran, it may have to face big difficulties. The statement came at a time when representatives of the US and Iran were negotiating a ceasefire in Islamabad. Trump was talking to reporters while leaving the White House for Miami.

What problem can Trump's warning cause to China?

Trump said, "If China does this, China will be in big trouble." He did not give much detail about this, but his statement can further increase the already existing tension between the world's two largest countries.

Analysts believe that if China supplies weapons to Iran, America may impose economic sanctions, trade restrictions or take some military action. There is already a tussle going on between the two countries over issues like trade war and Taiwan, so opening a new front could prove costly for China.

Can China send air defense systems to Iran?

According to CNN report, American intelligence agencies fear that China is preparing to send air defense systems to Iran in the next few weeks. These could be small shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADs), which could pose a threat to low-flying aircraft. The report also says that China can use the route of third countries to hide this delivery.

If this step happens, it will create new tension in US-China relations, especially when there are talks of a delicate ceasefire between the US and Iran.

What is the status of the ceasefire between America and Iran?

A few days ago, there was a two-week fragile ceasefire between America and Iran. Now direct talks between the two countries have started in Islamabad. US Vice President JD Vance's team and Iranian representatives have been discussing for several hours.

However, military forces are still deployed on both sides and rhetoric against each other continues. American ships and soldiers are present near Iran, while Iran is trying to strengthen its air defense, which had become very weak due to the attacks of America and Israel. Trump has said that whatever the outcome of the talks, America's position is strong.

Why did China deny allegations of sending weapons?

China has completely rejected these allegations. The Chinese Embassy in Washington issued a statement saying that China has not provided weapons to any side in this conflict. They appealed to America to stop making allegations without evidence and spreading sensationalism.

China says that it has always talked about peace and has never added fuel to the fire. Overall, the situation is becoming more complicated due to the ongoing talks in Islamabad and these allegations and counter-allegations between America, China and Iran.
